Bishop Hogan Memorial School will be host a red carpet affair this weekend.
The 10th annual Bishop Hogan Memorial School dinner auction will take place Saturday at the school in Chillicothe. This year's theme for the dinner is "Roling Out the Red Carpet for Catholic Education." Students, instructors and community volunteers have been preparing for the event since December. Bishop Hogan Principal Pam Brobst said this event is important not only to help support the school financially, but also to bring together the church and school communities. She believes the success of this event could not be possible without this unification.
"We don't get state funding for any of our operations," Brobst explained. "It really helps the next school year. It brings together the church and school, and the community, together for a unified purpose. That's the reason we can have such a huge undertaking is because we have that involvement of the church and school family, and the generous community."
An array of large items will highlight this year's live and silent auctions including a John Deere lawnmower, week-long stays at popular vacation destinations in the area, a Mother's Day suite at a Kansas City Royals baseball game, season passes to Chilli Bay Water Park and much more.
The meal, catered by Hy-Vee, will feature maple glazed hickory smoked shrimp, flame roasted top sirloin, quartered roasted potatoes, salad and an Asiago breadstick. White chocolate raspberry cheesecake will be served for desert.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. Saturday for the silent auction. The first silent auction room will close at 6:30, with additional rooms closing in 20-minute increments. The live auction is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Advanced tickets are available at Bishop Hogan Memorial School for $8 or at the door on Saturday for $9.
