A crowd of around 400 people helped one Chillicothe school raise more than $55,000 this weekend.
Bishop Hogan Memorial School held its 10th annual dinner auction Saturday night. Administrative Assistant Linda Drummond considers the event a success, and says it wouldn't have been possible without the support of the community.
"It just amazes me the people that come together from start to finish to help us out with the donations, the decorating, the meal, the serving and working the rooms," Drummond said. "They just all pull together to transform the school into an event. It felt like you were walking out of a small town into a big town event."
Principal Pam Brobst echoed Drummond's sentiments, and thanked all the people who made Saturday night special.
"I want to thank everyone who donated or purchased items during the auction," Brobst said. "I especially want to thank Mike Miller Auction Service, Dave May and their entire team; Brian Wills, Jeff Frampton and the Hy-Vee team for an elegant meal; and Tom Tingerthal for the sound and music."
In addition to raising funds help serve the school's 70 students, Brobst said it was equally important to host an event that brought the school and the community together.
"Seeing the good time everyone had made it all worth it," Brobst said. "It's really important to us that everyone comes together and enjoys the evening. We're really blessed to live in this community."
