Friday's inclement weather prompted the cancellation of three Chillicothe High School sports events slated for that day and postponement of two others.
In addition, a regional track-and-field event slated to occur in Chillicothe Saturday has been pushed back to Monday.
On the CHS front, the Midland Empire Conference boys’ tennis tournament and Irish Relays track-and-field meet, both at St. Joseph, and the girls’ soccer match at Marshall cancelled, Dan Nagel, CHS athletics director, confirmed early Friday afternoon after electrical service was restored in Chillicothe.
The other CHS events scheduled for Friday – the twice-previously-postponed baseball home doubleheader against St. Joseph: Bishop LeBlond is postponed, either to Monday (as part of a varsity-only home doubleheader with the rescheduled St. Joseph: Benton game) or to next Wednesday, Nagel reported.
As a result of the postponement of another activity (see below) until Monday, the CHS AD also announced this afternoon that Monday's rescheduled girls' soccer home match against Savannah (postponed Thursday) has been pushed back to next Friday, May 10, at 4 p.m.
In addition, the Class 1 District 6 track-and-field meet at CHS' Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium, which will involve most area small schools, has been postponed from tomorrow (Saturday) until Monday (May 6), meet manager Eric Fairchild of Princeton High School announced early Friday afternoon.
The coaches meeting for the district meet now is set for 12 noon Monday and field-events competition to begin at 1 p.m. and running events some time after that, according to Fairchild.
