Reception at library from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday

An opening reception for the photo exhibit “North Missourians at Work and Play” will be from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, May 9, on the second floor of the Livingston County Library.
The exhibit will remain open from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturdays through May 22. The exhibit is handicapped accessible. An elevator is located just inside the north entrance of the library.
The professionally-judged contest and exhibit are sponsored by the Chillicothe Area Arts Council.
The photos entered are judged on creativity, technical ability and aesthetic value. The contest judge will be available for questions on photography at the opening reception.
Photos were entered in three divisions: Youth, Adult Amateur and Adult Professional. All entered photos have been taken within the last year and within a 50-mile radius of Chillicothe. Contest rules called for each photograph to contain at least one person.
“The photographs provide a great representation of the people in our part of the world — playing, and working and mostly enjoying their daily life,” Julie Ashbrook, council administrator, said. “We have a lot of capable and enthusiastic photographers in our part of north Missouri, and those who entered photos are giving the rest of us a chance to enjoy some beautiful examples of the art of photography,” she said.
