  • Man in custody after after Patrol stops vehicle in Chillicothe

  • A man was in custody this morning (Friday) after authorities responded to the report of an incident involving a motorist who allegedly shot at a tractor-trailer truck as both vehicles traveled in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 36.
    The alleged incident occurred east of Laclede in Linn County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Shawn Skoglund. The vehicle was stopped around 8:45 a.m. on Mitchell Road in Chillicothe, just off of U.S. Highway 36.
    The driver of the tractor-trailer truck reportedly contacted authorities using star-55 motor assist and provided detailed information about the suspect vehicle (a black station wagon) as well as the license plate information. The vehicle had Illinois plates.
    The truck driver was from Linn County, according to authorities.
    Chillicothe police and Livingston  County Sheriff’s department officers assisted at the scene.
    No injuries were reported. The incident was still under investigation as of press time.
