The Chillicothe R-II Board of Education met last night (Monday) for a special meeting.
During the open session portion of the meeting, the board approved a contract with Quality Network Solutions for a three-year project to outfit all schools in the R-II district with wireless internet access. This comes at a total cost of $99,340, spread over the thee-year period.
The board decided to take no action on the proposed COPS Grant. This grant would add a second school resource officer in this district. The school would be responsible for 25 percent of the cost for the three-year grant, and responsible for the total cost after the grant expired. Superintendent Roger Barnes said the board needs to investigate further and gather more information about the grant before any action can be taken.
During the executive session portion of the meeting, the board approved a list of 123 graduates who will walk across the stage at Sunday's commencement ceremonies. This number does not include the ten CHS seniors who graduated in December.
The board also accepted the resignations of four individuals within the district: Rebecca Evans, cafeteria staff at Dewey Elementary; Nikki Jones, cafeteria staff at CMS; Jackie Melton, custodian at Central Elementary; and Colton Reeter, teaching assistant in the welding program at GRTS.
