  • City Administrator Ike Holland lead discussion last evening (Monday) regarding the sale of city property.
Holland advised the Chillicothe City Council during their regular meeting to put six vacant city properties out for public bid. He stated that these properties were costing the city hundreds, if not thousands of dollars in upkeep and maintenance alone.
The six properties included 104 Lily, 1111 Clay, 300 Wise, 316 Martin, 220 Calhoun and E. Herriman and Third.
The council discussed that the E. Herriman and Third lot was the smallest of the group, not really even large enough to build a residential structure on. The property at 104 Lily was also deemed as too small to build a structure on.
Holland recommended that the council perhaps set a minimum bid for each property, stating that however, he wasn't "married" to the idea.
Council members voted unanimously to set minimum bids on all of the properties excluding the E. Herriman and Third property, which will carry no minimum bid. The property at 104 Lily will carry a $500 minimum bid and the four other remaining properties will carry a $1,000 bid.
Once the bidding process has been opened by the city, sealed bids may be submitted.
Tom Douglas made the motion to accept the minimum bids while Paul Howard seconded the motion. It passed 5-0.
