May 15, 1930
Ellen Church--First Stewardess
Boeing Air Transport (BAT) became the first airline to hire stewardesses. It was a novel idea for a new method of traveling. Ellen Church, the first stewardess in the world, took to the skies on May 15, 1930, on a flight from Oakland to Chicago.
