Linda Ridley, a retired postal manager, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at her home in Shawnee, Kan. She was 62 years old.
Linda was born April 10, 1951, in Trenton, Mo. She was the firstborn child and only daughter of Don and Alice (White) Lancey. She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Mo.
Linda worked at Southwestern Bell and AT&T before taking time off to stay at home with her daughters. She joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1995 and retired earlier this year. She volunteered in the Shawnee Mission schools and served on the board of the Belton, Mo., school district. Linda played the piano from an early age, both for church and recreationally. She was a frequent visitor to Colorado and attended the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kan.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Andrea Flake of Fort Collins, Colo., and Chandra Beadleston of Shawnee, Kan.; her parents, Don and Alice Lancey of Chillicothe, Mo.; her brother, Larry, of Kansas City; his wife, Jeanne, and three nephews, Michael, Eric, and Patrick; sons-in-law Zach Flake and Scott Beadleston, and five grandchildren: Liam, Ava, Theodore, Jacy, and Benjamin.
Linda will continue to touch lives through an anatomical bequest to the University of Kansas Medical Center for research and training. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS 66224. The family will receive friends at a reception at the church immediately following the service.
