  • Chillicothe Police arrested 29-year-old Jeremy Brannon for alleged stealing, financial exploitation of the elderly and impersonating a law enforcement officer.
Brannon represented himself in the 1200 block of Sunset Street as a Livingston County deputy sheriff in an attempt to steal by deceit from an elderly individual.
According to a report by Sheriff Steve Cox, a Livingston County arrest warrant was received for Jeremy R. Brannon, of Jamesport, for allegedly misrepresenting himself as a deputy sheriff and stated that he needed a Chillicothe resident to assist him in an investigation. Brannon allegedly persuaded the victim into giving him at least $1,400.
The Chillicothe Police investigated this crime and made the arrest. The report was also placed on the Livingston County Sheriff's website, as the allegations include the suspect portrayed as a deputy sheriff while committing a crime in Livingston County.
Sheriff Cox stated that Brannon does not, nor has he ever worked for the Livingston County Sheriff's Office and asks anyone with similar information to contact law enforcement.
Brannon is currently incarcerated in the Daviess DeKalb Regional Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bond. He will appear before Judge James P. Valbracht in Livingston County on Wednesday, May 29, at 9 a.m. to set or waive preliminary hearing.
Charges were filed by Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren.
