Roscoe Phillips, 90, a resident of Lincoln, Mo., former resident of Chillicothe, Mo., died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Lincoln Community Care Center, Lincoln, Mo.
Roscoe was born the son of Grover and Martha (Gibbs) Phillips on April 15, 1923 in Bell City, Mo. He married Mildred Johnson on Aug. 11, 1947 in Carrollton, Mo. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2002.
Roscoe retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service. During that time he served during the Korea War and World War II. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for General Motors in Kansas City, Kan., for 22 years. Roscoe was a member of the Chillicothe First Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, and building things.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Rowland and husband Robert, Warsaw, Mo., and Vivian Jean Phillips, Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Stephen Phillips, Chillicothe, Mo., and Guy Phillips, Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren, Royce, Raydee, Rhyder, and Trinity; and one great-granddaughter, Lily.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mildred Phillips; infant daughter, Linda Phillips; and two half-brothers, Grover Phillips and Steve Hadorn.
Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Mo., on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 12 until 5 p.m.
