A magical First Friday event is planned for Friday July 5, at Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge near Sumner.
There will be free hot dogs provided by AgriServices of Brunswick, as well as the usual Tower Tours, Visitors Center displays (including a beehive, Streambox, and turtle touch tank). There is even a prairie grass maze guests can meander through. Activities begin at 5 p.m.
The special events for the night start at 6 p.m. with the Currey Korn Family Bluegrass Band. The family played at a few First Friday events last year, and everyone enjoyed them so much that they were scheduled again for this year. Guests are invited to sit down in the Amphitheatre and enjoy a hot dog while the band plays some bluegrass music from 6 until 7 p.m.
Following the Currey family is award-winning magician Keith Leff of Magic Creations. Keith has been amazing audiences for more than 20 years, and has been voted Kansas City’s “Best Magician” three years in a row. He will be dazzling the audience with a Fourth of July celebration show.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to get a good seat.
