Chillicothe among eight finalists for funds to raze 41 residential structures
Two representatives from the Department of Economic Development were in Chillicothe last week as part of a tour of regarding a demolition grant application.
The representatives from the compliance department of Business and Community Services met with city officials and Ann Hamilton, grant writer from Green Hills Regional Planning at City Hall prior to a tour of the city to check the 41 residences listed on the demolition grant by the codes department.
Chillicothe officials were told that they were among eight finalists of an original application list. This marks the third consecutive year that Chillicothe has been among the finalists. The city did not receive any grant money the first two years. The city anticipates receiving notification about this year’s grant application by late September or early October.
Those coming from Jefferson City for the meeting and tour included Denise Derks, compliance specialist for business and community services and James Robnett.
Those meeting with the group from the city included codes officers Tammi Venneman and Chuck Greever; Mayor Chuck Haney, Councilman Tom Douglas, City Auditor Teresa Kelly, and Hamilton.
