Cardinals win sixth straight in opener, then lose to Bluejays 7-6

Chillicothe’s senior American Legion baseball Cardinals extended, then ended their winning streak at “June” Shaffer Memorial Park stadium last night, splitting a doubleheader with Trenton.
The Vern R. Glick Post No. 25-sponsored Cardinals won for the sixth-straight time in game one, besting their visitors 10-2 in only five innings, before the Post 31 Bluejays used a 2-run sixth inning to capture game two, 7-6.
The split leaves the Cardinals with a 6-5 record heading into their next action Friday in the Kirksville Showcase Tournament. They’ll meet Jefferson City at 3:15 p.m. and Jefferson City: Blair Oaks at 5:30 p.m. in the 1-day event.
