  • Hughes named fair queen

  • A huge crowd packed the Mervyn W. Jenkins Expo Center Sunday afternoon for the coronation of Fair royalty. A group of 39 young women participated in this year's event for the title of Queen, Princess, Junior Princess or Clover Princess.

  • A huge crowd packed the Mervyn W. Jenkins Expo Center Sunday afternoon for the coronation of Fair royalty. A group of 39 young women participated in this year's event for the title of Queen, Princess, Junior Princess or Clover Princess.
    Morgan Elizabeth Hughes walked away with the title of 2013 Livingston County Fair Queen. During her four years in the FFA, Hughes has taken projects including dairy cattle, agronomy, Ag Econ and welding. Her talent for the competition was speech. Hughes attends Missouri Western State University, majoring in Public Relations.
    "I'm overjoyed," Hughes said of winning the crown. "I wasn't expecting this. It's better than I could have ever imagined. I'm really happy to be representing Livingston County.
    Hughes said she is already preparing for her appearance at this year's Missouri State Fair.
    "I definitely need to practice a lot more," Hughes said. "It's a lot more competitive down at the State Fair. I'll definitely need to bring my A-game up."
    As a four-year member of FFA, Hughes said fair week has also been a highlight of her summer.
    "I just like watching all the kids with their projects that they've worked on so hard over the past year," Hughes explained. "I like meeting with the new people. That's going to be joyful for me, also."
    Chloe Ané Funk was named this year's Clover Princess. Chloe is the daughter of Larry and Brenda Funk, of Chillicothe, and was sponsored by The Liberty 4-H Club. Allie Berger was 1st Runner Up. Allie is the daughter of Keith and Stephanie Berger, and was sponsored by the Hale Happy Hustlers. Hannah Dominique was 2nd Runner Up. Hannah is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Dominique, of Chillicothe, and was sponsored by The Double H 4-H Club.
    Gracy Maree Reeter took him the title of Junior Pricess. Gracy is the daughter of Brent and Rhonda Reeter, of Chillicothe, and was sponsored by the Rich Hill Junior Workers 4-H Club. Khloey Forst was 1st Runner Up. Khloey is daughter of Kim Jones, of Tina, and was sponsored by the Busy Bees 4-H Club. Magy Thomas was 2nd Runner Up. Magy is the daughter of Paul and Dorcus Thomas, of Chillicothe, and was sponsored by The Double H 4-H Club.
    Jozie Rae Reeter was awarded the honor of 2013 Fair Princess. Jozie is the daughter of Brent and Rhonda Reeter, of Chillicothe, and represented the Chillicothe FFA chapter. Emily Meneely was 1st Runner Up. Emily is te daughter of Wiley and Tammy Meneely, of Wheeling, and was sponsored by the Wheeling Happy Harvesters. Kiley Ann Boley was 2nd Runner Up. Kiley is the daughter of Rick and Rachel Boley, of Chillicothe, and represented the Chillicothe FFA Chapter.
    Morgan Elizabeth Hughes was named Fair Queen. Morgan is the daughter of Doug Hughes and Jan Ruckman, of St. Joseph, and represented the Dawn Sunrise Hustlers. Michaela Lynn Simmer was 1st Runner Up. Michaela is the daughter of Shawn and Kelli Simmer, of Chillicothe, and was sponsored by The Double H 4-H club. Maresa Anne Sykes was 2nd Runner Up. Maresa is the daughter of Mark and Teresa Sykes, of Dawn, and represented the Dawn Sunrise Hustlers.
