  • County fair begins

  • The 2013 Livingston County Fair kicked off with the rumble of trucks and tractors Friday night. The TSPA, IFPA and NWMTPA co-sanctioned Truck and Tractor pull set the fair into motion Friday evening (July 12).

  • The 2013 Livingston County Fair kicked off with the rumble of trucks and tractors Friday night.
    The TSPA, IFPA and NWMTPA co-sanctioned Truck and Tractor pull set the fair into motion Friday evening (July 12). Spectators surrounded all sides of the arena to cheer on the drivers and their powerful machines. A wide variety of classes were represented at the event including IAMO Pullers: 6,500-pound two-wheel-drive trucks, 4,000-pound Pro Street two-wheel-drive trucks, Pro Street 4x4 trucks and 7,500-pound Pro Stock tractors; IFPA Pullers: 5,700-pound Classic modified tractors, 9,500-pound Pro Farm tractors, 10,200-pound Pro Farm tractors, 10,500-pound Modified Farm tractors, 11,500-pound Farm Stock tractors and 6,200-pound Pro Stock 4x4 trucks; and NWMTPA Pullers: Pro Stock 4x4 trucks, 6,000-pound Hot Rod tractors, 8,500-pound Pro Farm tractors, 8,500-pound A Pump tractors, 9,500-pound P Pump tractors and 9,200-pound Limited Pro tractors open class.
    Saturday's events included the archery shooting contest at 1 p.m. and the BB/Pellet and Small Bore shooting contest at 4:30 p.m.
    The Style Show judging kicked off Sunday's full day of events at 1:30 p.m. in the Mildred Litton Building. Participants modeled their outfits, either purchased or created, while judges questioned them on the design elements, functionality and other details. Following the closed judging, each participant modeled her outfit for the public at the Fashion Show at 4 p.m. in the Mervyn W. Jenkins Expo Center.
    Another big crowd packed the Expo Center for the coronation of Fair royalty at 4:30. The Queen, Princess, Junior Princess and Clover Princess were all crowned during Sunday afternoon's event (see related story, Page 1). Morgan Elizabeth Hughes, the 19-year-old daughter of Doug Hughes and Jan Ruckman, walked away with the title of 2013 Livingston County Fair Queen.
    Sunday's events wrapped up with the horse show that began at 5 p.m. At 7 p.m., the Cowboy Sunday Service, officiated by Ray Perryman on horseback, took place, with the horse show resuming at the conclusion of the Cowboy service.
