Back to school events planned for new year
The administrators, faculty and staff of the Chillicothe R-2 District are hard at work preparing for the start of the 2013 - 14 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
The following is a list orientations, open houses, registrations and Hornet pride events scheduled across the district throughout the month of August.
On Friday, Aug. 9, the Chillicothe Alternative Center for Education will host MO Options at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Aug. 13, grade 12 registration will take place at Chillicothe High School from 9 - 11 a.m. Grade 11 registration will take place from 1 - 3 p.m. at the high school, and grade 9 registration will begin at 6 p.m.
From 1 - 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, grade 10 registration will take place at CHS.
On Thursday, Aug. 15, grade 6 registration will take place from 8 - 10 a.m. and resume at 6 p.m. Grade 7 registration will begin at 10 a.m. until last until noon. Grade 8 registration will take place from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
On Monday, Aug. 19, events begin at 4 p.m. with the Dewey and Field Elementary Open House with the Student Transportation Department. Also at 4 p.m., Dewey and Field Elementary Schools will host Curriculum Presentations. Curriculum Presentations for first and third graders will begin at 5 p.m. and last until 5:30 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Central Elementary will host an Open House with the Student Transportation Department. Central will host grade 4 Curriculum Presentations at 5 p.m. and grade 5 Curriculum Presentations at 6 p.m. Also on Aug. 19, CACE will host its Open House event beginning at 6 p.m.
A Meet the Hornets event and meal at the CHS gymnasium is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. A CHS Open House will follow the meal at approximately 6:45 p.m.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, the Chillicothe Middle School will host its back to school night, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CMS will host a fall sports meeting for parents at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.
