  • Council to have public hearing Monday to set tax levy rates

  • The Chillicothe City Council will hold a public meeting at 6:30 on Monday, Aug. 12, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.

  • The Chillicothe City Council will hold a public meeting at 6:30 on Monday, Aug. 12, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
    The Council will host a public hearing to consider settling the 2013 General and Parks Tax Levy on real and personal property. The city is proposing an increase of .8709 per 100 dollar valuation. City Auditor Theresa Kelly said these rates are recommended by the state auditor's office and would be an increase of about one cent.
    Tammi Venneman will be on hand for discussion and ordinance regarding a conditional use permit for a home-based business at 2320 Country Club Drive. Venneman will also lead discussion regarding the property at 344 Jackson Street.
    Chuck Greever will lead discussion on an ordinance to amend the permit fee schedule.
    Attorney Robert Cowherd will lead discussion on an ordinance regarding wheelchairs and a discussion and ordinance regarding a lease agreement with the museum for the use of the 1955 fire truck.
    City Administrator Ike Holland will speak to the council regarding an ordinance approving an economic development agreement with Cleantide Contain- ers, Inc. and IBC North America, Inc.
    Mayor Chuck Haney will lead discussion regarding the speed limit on U.S. Highway 36.
    Prior to the public meeting, the Council will have a site visit/workshop at 5 p.m. at the Hedrick Medical Center construction site. The Council will then move the workshop to the City Hall Conference Room at 6 p.m.
