  • COLUMBIA, Mo. – Matthew Trussell, a Chillicothe resident, has been named director of the Northwest Missouri State University Small Business & Technology Development Center in Chillicothe.

  • COLUMBIA, Mo. – Matthew Trussell, a Chillicothe resident, has been named director of the Northwest Missouri State University Small Business & Technology Development Center in Chillicothe.
    Trussell assumes his duties on August 19.
    “Matt has well-established relationships throughout the community as a resident, entrepreneur and educator,” said Steve Devlin, director of the University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program, which hosts the MO SBTDC. “His unique skill sets in business, agriculture and teaching will serve the community well, and I know we can expect great things from the center and him.”
    Among Trussell’s enterprises has been Tater Creek Angus, a firm that coordinated breeding and selection of cows for artificial insemination. In his more than 15 years at Tater Creek, the firm expanded from an initial two to more than 65 head of cattle.
    Trussell also has worked in finance with Wood and Huston Bank and Bank Midwest. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri and a masters degree in secondary education from NWMSU. He has taught at the Grand River Technical School.
    The MO SBTDC works with Missouri companies to address issues related to management, marketing, international trade and financing. From 2010 through 2012, the MO SBTDC and its companion programs assisted clients in creating $2.5 billion in economic impact, including creating or retaining 32,961 jobs, increasing sales by $986 million, acquiring investments of $649.1 million, winning government contracts of $857.4 million and obtaining research awards of $20.1 million.
