  • Sheriff releases budget status report, through July 31

  • The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, based on expenditure reports obtained from the Livingston County clerk, has released a budget status for the detainees being housed at the Daviess DeKalb County Jail through July 31, 2013.

  • The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, based on expenditure reports obtained from the Livingston County clerk, has released a budget status for the detainees being housed at the Daviess DeKalb County Jail through July 31, 2013.
    Using the reference of employee salaries, which are paid out in 12 equal monthly payments, the budget status through July 31 shows salaries of full-time employees are 58.33 percent spent. For comparison purposes, 58.33 percent was used as a benchmark for budget discussion.
    The Board of Prisoners budget line item has expended 60.88 percent during the same time period, or roughly 2.55 percent over the benchmark.
    The budget line item for Medical Care of Prisoners is showing 48.94 percent spent or 9.39 under benchmark, and the line item for Inmate Transfers has used 32.32 percent, or 26.01 percent under the benchmark.
    As of July 31, the status of current budgets which the LCSO operates under were at the following levels:
    County Revenue — Jail: 61.22 percent expended or 2.89 percent over benchmark.
    Law Enforcement Sales Tax — Jail: 43.79 percent expended or 14.54 percent under benchmark.
    County Revenue — Sheriff: 53.60 percent expended or 4.73 percent under benchmark.
    Law Enforcement Sales Tax — Sheriff: 43.84 percent expended or 14.49 percent under benchmark.
    “In my opinion, the Livingston County Sheriff's Office is living within its means,” Sheriff Steve Cox said.
