Too hot today (Tuesday), officials decide
The Chillicothe Invitational high school cross country meet scheduled for this (Tuesday) afternoon has been postponed until this Thursday (Sept. 12), CHS officials announced at midday.
Chillicothe athletics director Dan Nagel and cross country coach Tim Riekena announced the weather is too hot and humid to risk the health and safety of runners and spectators. At 2 p.m., weather.com was listing Chillicothe's temperature at 96°, a record high for the date. The relative humidity was a not-negligible 30 percent at that hour.
The meet, slated to involve around around 200 runners from 14 schools, is reset for the same start time (4 p.m.) two days hence.
The site will be well-shaded Simpson Park in north-central Chillicothe.
