  • The quarterly Mayor’s Coffee is slated for this Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the conference room on the second floor of the new fire station at 10 a.m.
Now in the second year of the quarterly events, it gives the opportunity for the public to hear from Mayor Chuck Haney and various department heads, ask questions and take tours of city facilities.
Speakers at this week’s Mayor’s Coffee will be Fire Chief Darrell Wright and Parks and Recreation Director Josh Norris. The new Sprinter ambulance as well as some other fire equipment will be on display and there will be tours of the new station which houses city fire and rural department fire equipment and county ambulances.
Wright will speak about grants and new equipment the department has obtained and other fire and ambulance information while Norris will address the first year of operation for the new Chilli Bay Water Park; changes coming for next summer, and upcoming events at the park and the city hosting state tournaments this fall.
There will be refreshments and coffee and tours will be given following comments by Wright and Norris. Each will speak around 10 minutes and the tour of the new facility will take 30 minutes. The public is to enter the east door of the station on Locust Street and take the elevator to the second story. Parking for the public will be on the south side of the Calvary Baptist Church across from the fire department.
