  • Services to be held Friday for Lois White

  • Lois White, age 95, of Brookfield, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at McLarney Manor in Brookfield.
    A funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Linneus with Pastor Sue Lambert officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Linneus.  Visitation will begin Thursday at 1 p.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service at 5:30 p.m.

    Lois Marie, daughter of Leslie and Mabel (Van Horn) Buckman, was born Jan. 29, 1918, in Linneus. On Jan. 5, 1936, she married Harold White who preceded her in death on June 22, 1986.
    Lois had owned and operated a restaurant in Linneus for several years, had worked as a cook at the Linneus school and worked at Whitaker Cable in Brookfield until her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Linneus. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, the Lucky Dozen and OATS all in Brookfield.
    Survivors include, two daughters, Lela Groes and Joyce Epperly and husband, Ray all of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Billy Groes and wife, Candy of Auxvasse, Kathy Mason and husband, Cary of Cameron, Mike Groes and wife, Becky of Grain Valley, Donnie Epperly of Brookfield, and Donna Epperly and William King both of Moberly; six great-grandchildren, Joshua Epperly of Brunswick, Kirby Groes of Las Vegas, Nev., Samantha McClary and Nickolas Mason both of Cameron, Abie Groes and Landry Jean Groes both of Grain Valley; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Brobst and Ethel Thompson and husband, Donald all of Chillicothe.
    Her parents, an infant daughter and a son-in-law, Bill Groes also preceded her in death.
