Patricia “Patti” Kobashigawa, age 65, of Shell Knob, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.

Patricia “Patti” Kobashigawa, age 65, of Shell Knob, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.
She was born Feb. 17, 1948, in Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Earl William and Lila Mae (Patterson) McKerlie. On May 26, 1979, in Hilo, Hawaii, she was united in marriage to Hubert Kobashigawa, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are one daughter, Cassondra Joy McAnally and her husband, Kenneth of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Larry Kirby and his wife, Diane of New Bloomfield, Mo. and two grandchildren, Eris McAnally and Andrew O’Black.  A third grandchild is expected within the month.
Patti, as most people knew her, received her education at Chillicothe, Mo., where she graduated from high school. At the age of fifteen she became paralyzed in an automobile accident, but rose above her limitations to attend college, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She resided in California for a while before moving to Shell Knob, Mo. to make her home.  Raising Yorkshire Terriers was her passion in life and she loved them all.
She attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shell Knob, where memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Susan Rosenbaum will conduct the services.
