Rod Dixon, who has been employed as publisher of the Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune for 15 years, resigned his position and is moving from the area. On Friday, Dixon announced that advertising director Andrea Graves has been named general manager.
Dixon joined the C-T’s advertising staff in 1990 and has served as publisher since 1998. For the last several years, he was employed as Gatehouse Media’s senior group publisher for north central Missouri, overseeing newspapers in 11 communities.
Dixon and his family will be moving to the Leesburg, Fla., area where he will become publisher of newspapers in Leesburg, Clermont and Sebring. The newspapers are recent acquisitions by Halifax Media Group, whose chief executive officer is someone whom Dixon had known for several years.
“This is a great opportunity,” Dixon said about his new venture. “I have enjoyed being in Chillicothe and working with a dedicated staff at the Constitution-Tribune for 23 years.”
Dixon and his wife, Jennifer, have five children: Connor, a 2012 Chillicothe High School graduate; Brianna, a 2013 CHS graduate; Jordan, a CHS senior; Austin, a CHS junior, and Ella, 2 years old.
Graves is a Chillicothe native. She joined the C-T’s advertising department in 1994 and later was named advertising director.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to leave the daily management with someone local,” Dixon said. “Andrea was born and raised in Chillicothe and is strongly-rooted in the community.”
Graves is a 1990 CHS graduate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in business management from Central Missouri State University in December 1993.
She said that assuming her new position is “bittersweet” in that Dixon is no longer with the newspaper, but she is looking forward to the opportunity.
She and her husband, Jason, a 1986 CHS graduate, have two children: Maggie, a senior at CHS, and Walker, an eighth-grader.
