Abe Lincoln, Mark Twain & Civil War presented by Branson performer Ehlert
The Friends of the Livingston County Library are pleased to announce that they are sponsoring a program on Veterans’ Day at the Livingston County Library. Abe Lincoln, Mark Twain and the Civil War, will be Monday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in the courtroom at the Livingston County Library.
This program, based in Branson, features Dave Ehlert as both Abe Lincoln and Mark Twain and focuses on how they both fought against slavery and racism in pre- and post-Civil War days.
“We are thrilled to be bringing this program to Chillicothe,” stated Friends President Natalie Leamer. “This is a nationally-acclaimed program that has been performed in more than 40 states and has received rave reviews. The focus on Missourian Mark Twain, makes it even more exciting.”
This 90-minute production of historical drama, humor and education is suitable for the whole family and its star Dave Ehlert has performed as Twain for almost 10 years. Ehlert began performing in 1967 as Elvis in what became the longest running Elvis tribute show in the world. When he began doing Mark Twain in 2004, he became absorbed with Twain and his knowledge on his subject is extensive.
“‘Abe Lincoln, Mark Twain and the Civil War’ is currently touring the United States and the Livingston County Library and our historic Courtroom will be a great venue for this program,” said Library Director Robin Westphal.
