  • The Chillicothe R-2 Board of Education will meet for its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Administrative Building.
The meeting will open with a welcoming of guests, a time for public comment and a number of recognitions. Around 60 Field School third-graders will be recognized during this time. Each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the group of third-graders run around the school for 30 minutes as part of the Fleet Feet Running Club. As part of Gov. Nixon’s statewide challenge, these students are encouraged to log 100 miles of running, walking or biking during the 2013-14 school year. Field Elementary Principal Philip Pohren said each student runs between 1-2 miles each day. Since September, the group has logged 1,516 miles.
Recognition will also be made to the candidates for Teacher of the year and Beacon Awards.
The Board is scheduled to hear a report regarding Community/Adult Education as well as a second reading of new Board policies.
Under new business, the Board will discuss minutes from the previous meeting and payment of bills. New business also includes audit and finance reports; considerations of job descriptions, copier agreement extension and MSBA BuyBoard Cooperative Membership; and the adoption of Board of Education election filing dates.
The meeting will close with reports from the Technology Committee and building administrators.
