  • Mrs. Grace Marriott, 92, a resident of Parkville, Mo., and former Trenton and Chillicothe resident, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon Nov. 15, 2013, at St. Luke's Northland Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

  • Mrs. Grace Marriott, 92, a resident of Parkville, Mo., and former Trenton and Chillicothe resident, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon Nov. 15, 2013, at St. Luke's Northland Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Slater Funeral Home, Trenton, Mo., with Richard Wilson officiating. Burial was in Martin Cemetery north of Trenton, Mo.
    Family visitation was held Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to any local animal shelter and may be left at the funeral home.
    Mrs. Grace Marriott was born Dec. 17, 2920, in Spickard, Mo., the daughter of Frank and Eva Warren Wensel. She graduated from Spickard High School. Before retiring, she had spent over 40 years in glove manufacturing and was employed as manager of Midwest Glove, of Chillicothe, then as plant manager of Jomac Manufacturing, of Brunswick, Mo. She and her husband Leo also owned and operated skating rinks in Chillicothe, Trenton and Brunswick for many years.
    She was a member of Spickard Christian Church, in Spickard, Mo.
    She was married to Leo Brown on Sept. 28, 1937, in Warren, Minn. They were married for over fifty years. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1988.
    On January 20, 1990, she married to Alfred P. Marriott in Chillicothe, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 2001. She moved to Kansas to reside with her daughter Dixie in Topeka.
    Her survivors include on daughter Dixie Goldstein (John), of Lawrence, Kan. Four grandchildren: Rebecca Way (Kevin), of Parkville, Mo.; Renee Lamp (Gary), of Topeka, Kan.; LaMonte DeLorme, of Parkville, Mo.; and Anita DeLorme, of Ozark, Mo. Nine great-grandchildren: Natalie Way-Cofer (Kyle), of Parkville, Mo., with who she resided; William Way, of Kansas City, Mo.; Gregory Way, of Parkville, Mo.; Sarah Strine-Schrag (Kyle), of Olathe, Kan.; Rachel Heaton-Seelbach (Kevin), of Topeka, Kan.; Charlotte Heaton-Bunyar, of Holiday Island, Ark.; Monica Heaton, of Meadville, Mo.; and Autumn and Austin Lamp, of Topeka, Kan. Five great-great grandchildren: Jessica Heaton, Robert and Sophia Bunyar, and Colin and Kevin Eli Cofer.
    She also had two step-daughters: Vickie Lunday, of St. Joseph, Mo.; Connie Marriot-Gangel, of Savannah, Mo.; and one step-son: Paul Marriott, of Trenton, Mo.
    Nieces and nephews: Ramona Meservey, Helen McFarland, Richard Wilson, Velvet Jo Newkirk, Sandy Berding, Lena Me, Tammy Young, Roy Brown, Twila Wensel, Gordon Wensel, Dora Gilbert Jim Wensel and lloyd Wensel.
    She was preceded in death by her father Frank Wensel, her mother Eva Wensel, three sisters: Effie Ritko, Kathleeen Ritko and Carol Wilson. Four brothers: Floyd, Harold, Kenneth and Gene Wensel. She was the last of the Warren-Wensel generation.
    She loved her grandchildren, animals feeding her birds, flowers and was always on the lookout for a garage sale. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching Lawrence Welk every Saturday night and she never missed a Kansas City Royals Baseball game. She really enjoyed this season. Her beloved dog and constant companion Buddy is sure going to miss her.
