A Utica, Mo., woman is in Chicago today (Sunday) auditioning for “The Voice," a reality TV singing competition broadcast on NBC. Tracie Bradley, a wife and mother of four children, is activity director for Indian Hills in Chillicothe. She enjoys her job and she loves singing. “I have always sang but was afraid of doing it in front of anyone," she said. Then, her grandfather, a preacher, told her that God had given her a gift and that she needed to use it. “It took a long time but, eventually, I started singing in church," she said. She also started singing at funerals. She said she would love getting her voice “out there." “When someone tells me they were touched by my voice, it touches my heart," she said. “I want to touch people's hearts." Bradley's friends and family have encouraged her to try out in different contests. “Finally, I decided to take a dare and try out for “The Voice,"" she said. “So, here I am in Chicago," she said, in a message to the Constitution-Tribune. She sings for the producers in the morning then, in the afternoon, she finds out whether she advances. “I have lots of friends, family, and coworkers who believe in me and love when I sing, so I hope to make them proud," she said. Bradley will begin her audition with “Black Velvet and end with a gospel, “He Touched Me."
