PLATTE CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri man twice convicted of killing a neighbor in 1990 will stand trial a third time this summer in the woman's death.
Mark Woodworth of Chillicothe has been free since February after the Missouri Supreme Court ruled prosecutors failed to share evidence that could have helped his defense.
The 39-year-old was first convicted of murder in 1995 for the fatal shooting of Cathy Robertson, but that was overturned on appeal. A second jury found him guilty four years later and sentenced him to life in prison. The state Supreme Court overturned that conviction last year.
A Platte County judge on Friday set a July 21 date for Woodworth's third trial and said he would rule soon on a motion to remove the Missouri attorney general's office from the case.
