Game against Platte County Saturday to begin around 2 p.m., due to snow threat

Saturday's 2013-14 Class 4 District 16 Tournament opener for Chillicothe High School's basketball Lady Hornets will start two hours earlier than originally planned, it was announced today (Feb. 27).

The first-round (quarterfinal) contest against Platte County now is set to begin at about 2 p.m. Saturday, following a 12:30 p.m. game between host St. Joseph: Lafayette and Savannah. Chillicothe's girls (17-7) are seeded third in the tourney.

The possibility of extensive snow current projected to start late Saturday afternoon or evening is the reason for the schedule adjustment, according to the announcement by the tournament's director which was forwarded to the C-T and other media this morning by Dan Nagel, CHS athletics director.

The Chillicothe-Platte County girls' winner will face second-seeded St. Joseph: Benton in the district semifinals next Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Chillicothe boys also will play Platte County in the first round of the tournament.  That game is due to be Monday at 5:30 p.m.  The Hornets are seeded fifth.
