  • 10 injured in crash near Jamesport

  • Ten people were injured in a motor vehicle crash 1⁄4-mile west of Jamesport Friday afternoon.
    Two vehicles were involved in the crash at 2:53 p.m. Friday afternoon; a 2003 Chevrolet van and a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

  • Ten people were injured in a motor vehicle crash 1⁄4-mile west of Jamesport Friday afternoon.
    Two vehicles were involved in the crash at 2:53 p.m. Friday afternoon; a 2003 Chevrolet van and a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The van, driven by Wanda Harris, of Casstown, Ohio, was southbound on Highway NN. The tractor-trailer, driven by Juan G. Castro-Garcia, of Kansas City, Kan., was westbound on Missouri Highway 6. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the van failed to stop at a stop sign and went into the intersection, striking the passenger side of the tractor-trailer. The van rotated clockwise following impact, and the rear of the van struck the trailer of the tractor-trailer. The van went off the north side of Highway 6 while the tractor-trailer jack-knifed, going off the south side of Highway 6 and partially blocking the westbound turn lane from Highway 6 onto Highway F.
    Two occupants of the van, Rafael Harris, of Casstown, Ohio, and Rochelle Hertzler, of Gallatin, were ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious injuries. Both were life flighted from the scene.
    There were nine passengers in the van: Annika Harris, 8, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving minor injuries (taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center); Heidi Harris, 6, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving minor injuries (taken by Cameron Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center); Johana Harris, 14, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving minor injuries (taken by Grundy County Ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital);  Katrina Harris, 13, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving minor injuries (taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center); Rafael Harris, infant, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving serious injuries (taken by Life Flight Helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital); Wanda Harris, 41, of Casstown, Ohio, receiving minor injuries (taken by Daviess County ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center); Rochelle Hertzler, 25, of Gallatin, Mo., receiving serious injuries (taken by Lifenet Helicopter to Truman Medical Center); Pamela Stahl, 23,  of Gallatin, Mo., receiving serious injuries (taken by Kansas Lifenet Helicopter to KU Medical Center); and Sarah Wurtz, 57, of Gallatin, Mo., receiving minor injuries (taken by Grundy County ambulance to Wright Memorial Hospital).
    The driver of the tractor-trailer, Juan G. Castro-Garcia, 45, of Kansas City, Kan., received minor injuries and was taken by Daviess County Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center.
