  • Two people were issued municipal citations for animal abuse after Chilicothe Police found dogs that had been left unattended in parked vehicles on Saturday.

  • Two people were issued municipal citations for animal abuse after Chilicothe Police found dogs that had been left unattended in parked vehicles on Saturday.
    Both incidents occurred on a private lot in the 1000 block of Graves Street.
    Police reported one incident involved a dog that was left for approximately 30 minutes with the windows of the vehicle slightly down and no water provided. The dog appeared to be hot and in distress as the temperature at the time was 90 degrees. Officers contacted the owner and he was issued a municipal citation for animal abuse. 
    The other incident involved a dog that had been left in a vehicle for at least 25 minutes when the outside temperature was 93 degrees. Officers arrived and the dog was panting and yelping, according to police. The owner was located and issued a municipal citation for animal abuse.
