  •  Many people have hobbies they enjoy doing in their free time; whether it be fishing, sewing, cooking or some other skill. Imagine turning that hobby into a profitable business. That's the dream, isn't it? Doing something you love to do and making money for doing it? Well, that's what the 4-H Entrepreneurship Market is all about. The market was held in the Ag Education Building Thursday afternoon on the fairgrounds. Tables were set up where future entrepreneurs spread out their goods for spectators (and potential customers) to view. There were displays with jams, bracelets, lava lamps, necklaces and much more. One table that stood out was Meredith Oesch's, "Mimi's Rockin' Wreaths." Meredith (or Mimi as her family and friends call her) got into wreath making after watching her mom, Rhonda Oesch, prepare one for a wedding gift. Rhonda said she first saw these custom wreaths in a Facebook advertisement for a little southern boutique. Rhonda then started researching how to make these wreaths on Google and watching YouTube video tutorials. Rhonda said there are numerous techniques used to make wreaths and it took about four tries to find a technique that worked for her and Meredith. Rhonda said Meredith was getting frustrated learning her new hobby, but once she found a technique that worked for her, she began to have a fun with it. Rhonda also proudly said all the wreaths Meredith brought to the fair, were made all by herself. According to Meredith, these wreaths are made out of four wires, and fabric is weaved through the wires. Meredith also attaches decorative pieces to her wreaths to add something special to them. Most materials are from Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Meredith sold three wreaths total this week so far, and she is also taking special orders for wreaths. These wreaths range in price from $28 to $45, depending on the size, and amount of fabric and decor added. Meredith said her favorite part is, "designing the wreaths, and picking out fabric and decorations." Rhonda said due to her and Meredith's obsession with peacocks, she is planning for her next wreath to be a peacock wreath.
