Chillicothe Middle School and Central School will host visiting author, Kate Messner, of New York, tomorrow (Wednesday), and Thursday. The author will be giving three presentations at CMS and two at Central (one to each grade level). As in past years, students from Chula will join the middle school for this event.
Messner will also meet with select reader groups during her visit and be autographing books.
Messner’s repertoire includes chapter books, picture books, Lake Champlain historical novels, and even books for educators. She has received many awards for books she has written for children, including those from New York Times Notable, Junior Library Guild, IndieBound, and Bank Street College of Education Best Books selections. The Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z. won the E.B. White Read Aloud Award for Older Readers and is one of 12 titles currently vying for the 2012 Mark Twain Award, an award selected each year by student vote across Missouri.
