Budget update on agenda for R-2 meeting

The Chillicothe R-2 Board of Education will meet in regular monthly session on Tuesday, Feb. 21, to discuss topics ranging from bus leases, to designation of an educational liason for foster children, to expansion of the Chillicothe Middle School extracurricular activities program.

After approval of Tuesday night’s agenda, the board will hear reports regarding professional development, the special education services program, and special education cooperative services.

There is no old business yet slated for the meeting.

In new business, the consent agenda shall be approved, followed by an informational session regarding the monthly finance report. An update on the R-2 district’s budget shall follow.

The board will take action on the consideration of a lease for a new school bus to be added to the R-2 fleet. They will agree upon a purchase finance agreement.

Action will also be taken on the designation of an educational liason for foster care students in the district, as well as passage of board policy GBH (regarding student/staff relations, and which has been read three times, per regulation, at the last three regular school board meetings).

Discussion and possible action will be taken regarding an expansion of the Chillicothe Middle School extracurricular activities program.

The first readings of 33 board policy amendments or additions will occur. The subjects of these specific policies are as follows:

AC — Prohibition Against Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation;

ADF and ADF-AP — District Wellness Program;

DA — Fiscal Responsibility;

DI — Fiscal Accounting and Reporting/Accounting System;

DN and DN-AP — Surplus District Property;

EB-AP2 — Safety Program (Removal of Procedures);

ECB — Building and Grounds Maintenance;

ECD — Traffic and Parking Controls;

ECG — Animals On District Property;

EHB and EHB-AP — Technology Usage;

EI — Insurance management;

EIA — Property and Liability Insurance;

GBEBC — Criminal Background Checks;

GCBDA — Professional Staff Short-Term Leaves and Absences;

GCPD — Suspension of Professional Staff Members;

GDBDA –—Support Staff Leaves and Absences;

IC — Academic Calendar/Year/Day;

IGBA-AP1 — Programs For Students With Disabilities;

IGD, IGD-AP1, and IGD-AP2 — District-Sponsored Extracurricular Activities and Groups;

IGDA — Student-Initiated Group Use of District Facilities;

IGDJ — Interscholastic Athletics;

IGDJA — Sportsmanship in Interscholastic Competition;

IND — Ceremonies and Observances;

JFCL-AP — A+ Schools Program;

JHG — Reporting and Investigating Child Abuse/Neglect;

KG and KG-AP — Community Use of District Facilities; and

KK – Visitors to District Property/Events.

The building administrators’ reports and Dr. Roger Barnes’ Superintendent’s report will be given.

A closed executive session, for the purpose of voting and/or consideration of litigation, real estate, students, and personnel, will follow the public regular session.

The next regular board meeting is set for Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 6:30 p.m.
