This spring, Hedrick Medical Center Auxiliary members generously donated two pieces of equipment to the hospital’s nuclear medicine department to improve the level of care provided to patients.

The first piece of equipment, a Stryker 50/50 chair, is modeled after a recliner. The unique, advanced function of this chair allows it to lay flat to provide necessary life-saving measures in case of an emergency. For example, when a patient’s blood pressure becomes dangerously lowered, staff can change the chair’s position so the patient’s feet are elevated above the head. This allows blood pressure to return to a normal level quickly.

The other piece of equipment donated, a DataScope, automatically monitors patient blood pressure and oxygen saturation, allowing technicians more time to closely monitor the patient’s EKG............

Over the past 120 years, the HMC Auxiliary has donated thousands of dollars in vital life-saving equipment to the hospital. If you would like more information on how to become a volunteer at HMC, contact Human Resources at (660) 646-1480.
