The Constitution-Tribune’s Giant Greeting Card, published in the Christmas edition on December 23, brought in a total of $10,049.53 for Operation Help. Operation Help is coordinated through the Chillicothe Ministerial Alliance and, through a screening process, provides assistance to people going through tough financial times. Help may come in the form of paying rent, utilities, gas or medical bills. Although the project concluded with the printing of the greeting card on Dec. 23, donations continued to be dropped off at the C-T office. The funds were presented this week to the Rev. John Rice, pastor of United Methodist Church and president of the Chillicothe Ministerial Alliance. “That is wonderful, timely...,” Rice stated. “Wow... that is great.” Operation Help distributed $83,508.41 to 400 applicants in 2016. According to Rice, the greatest need was for utilities, followed by rent, medical and pharmaceutical, temporary lodging, food, and mortgage. He said he was appreciative of how the community stepped forward to assist Operation Help. “It is astounding how much was gathered,” Rice stated.
