The Salvation Army in Chillicothe closed out its annual holiday mail campaign on a high note although donations made through the red kettles were down from previous years. Salvation Army Lt. Shannon Forney, of the Chillicothe Salvation Army office, reported that the Christmas mail appeal for the local office came in at $28,324.63. Other monetary donations received at the office, along with internet donations, amounted to $1,832. The traditional kettle campaign brought in $19,437.42, plus $76.58 through counter kettles. The mail appeal was approximately $500 shy of the goal set. The kettle campaign was significantly down from what was projected, mirroring a trend that was experienced throughout the country, Forney said.
