The Chillicothe Fire Department has partnered with the Chillicothe Police Department and the local Army National Guard Unit to develop an Honor Guard Team. The Honor Guard Team will be available to present the national and local colors at events throughout the community, at the request of the event organizers. “This will be a great asset to the Chillicothe area in the event of special ceremonies, funerals, and sporting events,” said Chillicothe Fire Chief Darrell Wright. Hedrick Medical Center is the sole sponsor of the team and contributed funds to purchase the uniforms and flags needed for the development of the Honor Guard Team. “On behalf of the Chillicothe Fire Department, we would like to thank Hedrick Medical Center for their financial support in helping to launch this new community service.” Steve Schieber, hospital CEO, said that the hospital is honored to be partnering with the city on this effort. “We are really proud to be able to show patriotism as well as honor the National Guard, firemen, and police who are joining us in this endeavor,” he said. “We appreciate all the support they provide us.” There are about five members from each the fire, police and National Guard who will be serving on the Honor Guard Team, with the goal that at least two will be available at all times, when needed. Persons interested in scheduling the Honor Guard Team for an event should contact the Chillicothe Fire Department at 660-646-2139.
