Fourth and fifth grade students at Central School are making a difference in their community by participating in one of several leadership classes offered through the school, based upon their specific interests. Angela Gott’s Hi-Step leadership class organized a food drive to benefit individuals in the Chillicothe community. The group’s focus is to better the community and benefit local citizens. The Hi-Step class conducted the food drive at Central Elementary to benefit the House of Prayer Rescue Mission during the December and January. In all, 568 canned and boxed goods were donated by fourth and fifth grade students. A class competition was held to encourage student participation in the food drive. Jacqueline Smith’s fifth grade class was the overall winner with 172 items donated. Second place was Ellen Gott’s fourth grade class with 109 items donated. Third place was Sophie Chamber’s fourth grade class with 107 items donated.
