In 2015, Hedrick Medical Center implemented an oncology nurse navigator program dedicated to easing the physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial hardships of living with and beyond cancer. Annie Stedem-Singer, RN, nurse navigator for the program, will be offering another round of classes for area cancer patients, free of charge. Saint Luke’s Nutrition for Cancer Survivorship class Turn surviving into thriving. With Saint Luke’s Nutrition for Cancer Survivorship class, you’ll see how smart meal choices can support recovery and improve the symptoms affecting daily functioning and quality of life. In this two-hour class, Saint Luke’s dietitian, Diane Lambert, R.D., L.D., will teach you the pillars of diet for cancer prevention and management. When: Wednesday, April 5 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. Look Good…Feel Better Class This class is a nationwide program for women currently receiving chemotherapy, radiation, and other cancer treatments and women who have received treatments within the last year. In a free workshop, a caring beauty professional will teach simple techniques to help women feel better about themselves, just when they need it most. This class covers a variety of topics concerning looking and feeling your best throughout your cancer care. The class is facilitated by Annie Stedem-Singer, RN, a local, licensed cosmetologist. Attendees will receive a free bag of make-up. When: Tuesday, April 25 from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. Both classes will be held in the Ira & Minnie Hedrick Room located near the Garden Café at Hedrick Medical Center, 2799 N. Washington St. in Chillicothe.
