Chester Lee Barnes, 84, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Big Bend Retreat in Slater. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at First Christian Church in Marshall with Dr. Loy Hoskins and William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Marshall FFA, or Marshall Senior Center in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com Born July 5, 1932 in Saline County, he was the son of the late Chester R. Barnes and Mabel Irene Thomas Barnes. He lived in Saline County his entire life and was a 1950 graduate of Marshall High School. Chester served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On March 2, 1956 he married Alice M. Banks who survives of the home. Chester was a retired farmer, had driven a bus for Marshall Public Schools for many years, and after retirement, worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He was a member of First Christian Church and American Legion Post 558. In addition to his wife, Alice; he is survived by one daughter, Leanna Dehn of Marshall; one son, Roger Barnes and wife Kathi of Chillicothe; five grandchildren: Kevin Dehn and wife Jen, Jason Dehn and wife Amber, Jennifer Dehn, Chad Barnes, and Alex Barnes; five great-grandchildren: Courtney, Nolan, Emmalee, Luca, and Slade Dehn; an AFS daughter, Pauline Bartholomew Wardle of New Zealand; as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Curtner; one brother, Melvin Barnes; and a nephew, Glenn Curtner.
