“I am humbled by all the people who support the arts in our community." – Sarah Cavanah, band director
Chillicothe R-2 School District’s seventh, eighth, and high school bands performed for the 6th annual band benefit dessert and auction Monday evening in the CHS Commons. Desserts were provided by band members, friends and families. Several items were also donated for a silent auction. More than 350 people attended the event and by night’s end, more than $4,000 had been raised for the school district’s band program. “This was by far the biggest one we have had in the six years, thanks to many generous contributors to our band program,” said Band Director Sarah Cavanah. “I am humbled by all the people who support the arts in our community.” Money raised will be used for band expenses, such as purchasing new instruments and paying for maintenance on current instruments. Funds also will be used to bring in guest solo artists as well as pay for band competition entry fees and sheet music.
