The House of Prayer had its their annual ‘Harvest of Praise’ fundraiser, silent pie auction, on Saturday at the Jenkins Expo Center. Greg Hughes, church mission director, opened the program with a prayer, followed by soloists Penny Kennebeck, Andy Derrickson, Ean Leppin and Danny Batson. Todd Mathew, area director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, gave the address. He told a story of how the Tina Chapter of the fellowship came to be, and how a new coach to the school raised the question of how to start a chapter, and how a few initial students inspired its growth. Mary White followed the address by leading a sing along and Greg Hughes gave a spiritual address and closed the program out with a prayer. Funds raised through the event will help defray costs associated with House of Prayer’s three free meals offered to the public each week. A total dollar amount raised from Saturday’s event had not yet been calculated.
