Practices for the Chillicothe Area Community Choir will be held each Tuesday, from 7 until 9 p.m., beginning Tuesday, Jan. 16, in the sanctuary of the United Methodist Church, 1414 Walnut. There are no auditions, and participation is open to high school students and adults. Participants should use the south entrance to the church. The choir is under the direction of Dave Goodwin, retired Chillicothe R-2 instrumental music instructor. Carolyn Johnson, Chillicothe, is the accompanist. The choir will perform at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 25, as part of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council’s 2017 - 2018 season programming. According to Mary Lou VanDeventer, administrator of the arts council, part of the mission of the Chillicothe Area Arts Council is to promote and encourage the study and enjoyment of the arts in people of all ages within and around the Chillicothe area. “Much of fulfilling the educational component of our mission is done through the programming we present in local and area schools, and in the cultural luncheons we hold each year for adults,” VanDeventer said. “But, our community choir is also a perfect example of fostering and encouraging the enjoyment of the arts. In turn, the choir presents beautiful programs each that are thoroughly enjoyed by our audience," she said.
