A St. Joseph, Mo., man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident involving his van and a tractor trailer on U.S. Highway 36, a mile east of Hamilton.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident, which happened at 6:10 a.m., occurred as a 1995 Volvo tractor trailer, driven by Dale O. Hazzard, 38, of Gallatin, was southbound on Spring Hill Road and a 1989 Chevy van, driven by Michael A. Hart, 44, of St. Joseph, was eastbound on U.S. Highway 36.

The report states that the tractor trailer pulled into the path of the van. The van apparently struck the tractor trailer in the rear right side of the tractor and both vehicles came to rest, entangled on Spring Hill Road.
