Former CDES director dies

Joe Rinehart, 63, who directed the Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services for 29 years before retiring, has died.

The former fire chief died this (Monday) morning at Hedrick Medical Center.

Rinehart began his career with the Chillicothe Department of Emergency Services in 1972 and was promoted to fire chief in 1979. He retired as CDES director in November 2008, primarily because of health issues.

Funeral services are pending and under the direction of the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
