Grand River Area Family YMCA and Second Harvest of St. Joseph are teaming up again for their fourth year of participating in the Back Pack Buddy Program.
“Last year was such a success,” said coordinator Genie Amen-Ewing. “We targeted 75 children and by the end of the school we were able to serve 87 kids weekly with food for the weekend.”
This year, organizers want to add 25 more children (for a total of 100 children) to their rosters and continue to stamp out hunger in Chillicothe schools. A goal has been set to raise $12,500.
This year the program is required to pay for the food prior to the school year and the payment needs to be sent by Sept. 1. The groups plan to start food delivery on Sept.11..............
