The Livingston County Library was awarded a Missouri State Library Targeted Collection Development Grant in the amount of $8,650 to purchase materials in five specific categories. The categories include Literacy Skills Development, Foreign Language and Bilingual Collections, Career and Job Skills Development, Computer Skills Development and Statewide Reading Program Support.

“This grant will have a tremendous impact on the resources we’ll be able to offer our patrons,” states Library Director Robin Westphal. “We’ve been able to purchase board books for babies, chapter books for children, audiobooks and DVDs to help build language skills and books that will help people with a variety of computer applications,” Westphal remarked.

“We’ve really increased the number of titles in our teen area and have added some great titles to help people find the career that’s right for them.  We purchase multiple copies of the books that students are reading for school, like the Mark Twain and Truman nominees,” said Westphal.
